Thanks To All

Thanks to ALL for the wonderful birthday wishes… and it was great! Spent time with family AND had a fun day exploring my passion… History. Did a trek along the Civil War battlefields of Springhill and Franklin with my friend and historian Jim Knight (wrote a book called, “The Battle Of Franklin”) on the 147th anniversary. The battle of Springhill was fought on the 29 of November, 1864… the battle of Franklin on the 30th. Our tour culminated at the Carter House where there were talks about that fateful day for the South. The day ended by seeing the new film at the Franklin Cinema…  on the Franklin Battle and the discovery of a Civil War soldiers remains a couple of years ago. Needless to say it was a perfect birthday present.

Research in Virginia for upcoming project

Been on a research trip in Virginia for upcoming project. Pam & I have been researching Civil War sites and visiting re-enactments for possible book and video project. My love for history as well as music has set in motion an idea in which to help motivate folks to better understand history and make it come alive. There is nothing like being at the actual places where history was created to give us a sense of how far we have journeyed. Although it has been paraphrased many times, the philosopher/poet George Santayana said it best, “Those who cannot not remember the past are condemned to repeat it”…. and I add…” to know history is to see into the future”
